Welcome to the website for St Mary the Virgin church in Laverstoke and Freefolk. Laverstoke and Freefolk are two villages sitting halfway between Overton and Whitchurch. The church is in a partnership (benefice) with St Mary’s, Overton, and four other churches in the Winchester Diocese.
We have three regular services a month. We are the local church for Laverstoke and Freefolk residents and we also welcome others from Overton to our regular services. We also have special services at Christmas, Easter and Harvest.
The church is usually open to visit on Saturdays and Sundays between 10am and 4pm but is closed during the week. St Nicholas Church, across the road which belongs to the Churches Conservation Trust, is open every day and is also a great place to go for quiet prayer and contemplation. If you would like to look inside St Mary the Virgin during weekdays please telephone 01256 895594.
We make good use of our modern Church Rooms with midweek groups running for children and the local community.
We seek to promote care for God’s creation by way of personal and collective actions towards a greener and more sustainable future.
At St Mary’s, Laverstoke, we work hard to maintain a safe environment for all. We are committed to implementing the House of Bishops’ safeguarding policies and good practice guidance.
